The City of St. Paul was recently awarded a $500 Lean on LARM Safety Grant to purchase a safety roller manhole cover. According to Laura Berthelsen, St. Paul Deputy City Clerk, the cover is designed to add a level of safety when working around an open manhole.
"The mesh grill provides visibility into the manhole while also creating a safe cover to protect against someone accidentally falling into the manhole, or items falling into the manhole. The manhole cover is adjustable to fit a variety of manhole sizes and features a ring with adjustable bolts to allow for a tight fit," Berthelsen wrote in the grant application.
The League Association of Risk Management (LARM) offers the Lean on LARM Safety Grant to its members to purchase safety items for their communities.
