City of Valley is awarded Lean on LARM Safety Grant for cameras

The City of Valley used $500 from a Lean on LARM Safety Grant to install a video surveillance system and employee panic buttons at the city hall, the library, and the police department.

According to Christie Donnermeyer, Valley City Clerk, the video cameras would help deter vandalism, theft, and unauthorized access, while also providing documentation to help resolve incidents and reduce liability claims.

"The panic buttons, installed at employee workstations, will allow staff to quickly and discreetly summon help in the event of a threatening situation or medical emergency. Together, these safety measures will significantly reduce risk exposure, protect city personnel and property, and strengthen the city’s ability to respond promptly to emergencies," Donnermeyer said.

The League Association of Risk Management (LARM) offers the Lean on LARM Safety Grant to its members to purchase safety items for their community.
